As meticulous as any veteran soldier preparing for war, Lina Inverse checked her equipment. She cleaned the tines of her fork, tested on a light salad, against a napkin, then returned the napkin to her lap.
"Your escargot, madam." The clarion call to battle.
They were truly horrible creatures, and Lina struggled not to quail in the face of their sliminess. She stabbed decisively with her fork, dousing the enemy in melted garlic-butter and tore into it with her teeth.
It was chewy, but edible. She swallowed.
"Ha! Lina triumphs over the gastropods!"
