"I don't get it," Talia said. She was working through her normal warm up routine in the center of the workroom while Snow was finishing up her notes to Queen Bea to tell Prince Armand where to look for his mystery woman. "She spent three days working all day, then dancing until midnight with Armand. She could sneak away for a party but couldn't jump ship to somewhere her stepmother couldn't follow?" They had seen that the older woman's first action on hearing of the glass-shoed girl was to hide her step-daughter so she wouldn't get in her daughters' way. No love lost there.

"We can't all save ourselves on our own, and we don't know the full story," Snow replied. "What would you have her do -- break down the door to escape? This wouldn't be the first time Queen Bea helped a young lady who got herself in a bind." Snow touched her choker absently.

"I'm just saying, not all stories end with the prince showing up for 'happily ever after'," Talia said darkly. Snow decided to say nothing and went back to her work.
