Summary: Ravi knew his father only through his inheritance.
Ravi knew his father only through his inheritance: the summoner's gift and the permanent changes to merfolk physique that let him walk on land and breathe air, those that gave his father the wasting death of a creature of the sea who had sacrificed everything to the sky. His mother never spoke much of her husband, singing her grief privately, and to this day, Ravi never knew if his parents had moved to Hinoiri, nothing more than a globe in the sky to most merfolk, to try to heal his father's magic-modified body or his sea-mourning soul.
