Summary: After a hard day at work, Winry comes home to her husbands for dinner.

It had been a long day. Between a couple of locals who had required some servicing, Mister Allister, who had lost an arm to his new harvesting machine and was considering automail, and the flu that had laid Doc Kelly low and meant Winry had volunteered to pitch in on cases near home, she had been on her feet since dawn and was driving up the road to her home well past dinnertime.
Ed was there to greet her, lounging on the front deck like he owned the place. Winry parked the battered truck and swung down from the driver's seat, grabbing her black bag from the passenger's side.
He greeted her with a hug. "Al's chased me out of the kitchen. You'd think he'd be willing to trust a retired State Alchemist with peeling potatoes at least."
"What about the pecan pie incident?" Winry asked. "We had the windows open for three days to remove the smell."
Ed held up his hands. "It said cook until a toothpick came out dry. Not my fault the pie burnt before that happened."
Winry took the automail one, running her hand over the steel surface. "It's holding up well."
"I'm retired -- it should be," Ed said, looping the free one around her waist. "No more running into danger with Al trying to keep me alive."
"Brother! Winry! Dinner's ready! And if you don't get in here, I'm feeding your share to the lodgers!"
Between two alchemy students Ed had taken on, a handful of farm kids from Al's high school classes that lived to far to go home on weekdays, and Missus Peters, who was in rehab learning to use her new hand, that wasn't an idle threat. Even if all of them were paying for board, there was only so much food they could cook at one time, even in the expanded kitchen.
She was glad Ed and Al had finished the new wing over the summer. The new wing with its own dining room.
"Are we eating with the lodgers or by ourselves?" Winry asked.
"By ourselves. Al figured you'd be too tired to want much company," Ed replied. "He also made pie and coffee for dessert."
"Al is a thoughtful, thoughtful man and you should learn from him," Winry said gravely as she steered them both into the house and through the door that led to their own private dwelling, separate from her own clinic and the guest wing.
Al was laying out the food for dinner, clearly having brought the lion's share into the guest wing. It smelled wonderful -- chicken with gravy and potatoes and vegetables. He pulled the chair out for Winry as she approached and she kissed him. "My favorite husband for the day."
Ed gave a light punch to his brother. "Brown-noser." Al stuck his tongue out at his older brother.
Winry laughed as she sunk gratefully into the seat and Ed and Al took their own places. "Both of you eat your food before it gets cold."
It was moments like this, as the three of them started talking about the events of their days, relaxed and laughing over a meal, that made Winry feel like she could face the world, as long as she had this to come home to.
