As the Sea of Eden faded, Ness saw -- no, saw, wasn't the right word, since it was with every sense he had, and some he'd never really used -- the eight spots that had been marked as Sanctuaries. It was like stepping into sunlight from a dark room, or the first whiff of his mother's cooking after having a cold, of first learning how to talk to King using psi.
Before he even opened his eyes, he knew he still was in Fire Springs, and his friends were standing around them. There were still monsters in the caves below, uncertain after their defeat. He could feel the lava flowing beneath him, going to warm the hot springs outside. If he kept reaching, he could feel the Tenda Village -- no, both Tenda Villages. He wondered how far he could reach, and let his mind jump to Giant Step, and then down the hills of Onett towards home...
"Ness? Are you okay?"
"He's waking up -- I see his eyelids twitching. Thought he said something, too."
He let Jeff and Poo help him up. Even with eyes open, the sense of... of everything, didn't fade. "Wow." That about covered it.
