Van had warmed to Celena Schezar once it had finally sunk in that she was very little like Dilandau Albatou, besides a bit in looks. She had a quick temper, it was true, but it was expressed in a wit so sharp that one often didn't feel the blow until the bystanders started sniggering. She made it clear that she could defend herself, that she remembered enough of Dilandau's military training that any assassin or thug would regret meeting her. Yet, aside from a bit of practice, she did not desire to use it.

And, yet, when something would strike her just wrong, there would be a bit of the old manic fire in her eyes. In the glow of those eyes, it would cast a shadow over her face. Then, Van was torn between the desire to comfort his love, and the desire to deal with his old enemy.
