Yue has had the same dream for all her life. She can never remember the details, merely swimming in an ocean that isn't the frozen one outside their city, but warm, the temperature of her body, like the pool in the Spirit Oasis . She can feel the tides' pull on her, remember the sight of moonlight on the water.
Waking brings her into a world of bright ice, one that seems less important as the years pass. She knows what she is to the Tribe, but she longs to escape, to find that moon-dark sea from her dreams.
