She had told the boys not to use the tall chair in the kitchen to get to the top shelf of the cabinets. "The seat needs to be fixed," Trisha explained. "If you climb on it, it might break, and you'll fall." However, when she came running after hearing a crash while outside hanging laundry, she wasn't too surprised to find Edward had fallen off of the chair and was holding his leg and trying not to cry. Alphonse was trying to help him up, near tears himself.

After she made sure both boys were okay -- Ed had just a couple of bruises and Al was fine -- she asked why they had used the chair she had told them not to. "We figured you just didn't want us to have any cookies before dinner, since we'd need the chair to get to the cookie jar," Ed explained, looking away.

"But we needed to get a bowl from the kitchen, so we thought that would be okay, Mom," Al finished.

Trisha smiled, and hugged both of her sons. "Next time, you two need to be more careful. When someone says you shouldn't do something, there's usually a good reason."
